Project Management Training and Certification are two options

The Project Management Institute (PMI) is a well-known organization that awards professional qualifications to qualified Project Managers who meet their requirements. There are several certifications available, including the Project Management Professional (PMP) and the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM), which demonstrate a common body of knowledge in the subject of project management.

An Associate in Project Management certification needs a high school graduation, either 1500 hours of work on a project team or 23 hours of formal project management instruction, the completion of an application, and passing a 150 question examination in order to earn the certification.

A high school diploma, 5 years of project management experience, and 35 hours of formal project management education are required for Project Management Professional certification, or a bachelor's degree, 3 years of project management experience, and 35 hours of formal project management education are required for Project Management Professional certification. Candidates must pass a 200-question examination after submitting documentation of their relevant experience through the PMI application.

In Alaska, for example, the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) Project Management Program, which provides specific courses such as PMP certification preparation, use of Microsoft Project, technical writing, and other topics to help project managers succeed. The program offers a Master of Science in Project Management (MSPM), which is accredited by the Project Management Institute (PMI). The University's courses are designed to meet the demands of working professionals in the workplace.

Some of the courses provided in the MSPM Program can be completed entirely online. Students participate in classrooms using video conferencing, weekend seminars, the Blackboard course management system, and the usage of satellite campuses, among other methods. Members of the UAA Project Management Program's facility staff have even traveled to Seattle, Washington, to teach classes.
