New plans to simplify broadband and landline switching have been revealed

This already applies to customers who switch between providers such as BT, Sky and TalkTalk in the Openreach copper network. This happened after a rule change by the communications authority Ofcom in 2015.

Customers who switch between different types of networks or technologies, e.g. B. from Virgin Media to Hyperoptic (neither of which are on the Openreach network) currently need to contact both their existing and new providers to coordinate the move. This includes trying to ensure that there is no gap between the end of the old and the beginning of the new service.
